About me

I believe counselling can help us to better understand ourselves, how we process challenges and understand our responses. I offer a therapeutic space that is safe, encouraging and supportive for this exploration and potential next steps.

I work as a counsellor in private practice and in a community-based counselling service in East Belfast. I am also experienced in coordinating work place wellbeing services for a large international NGO with a global workforce.

My journey to becoming a counsellor started with a desire to understand more about myself, how I relate to others and how I respond to stress. I wanted to give myself the opportunity to grow even in the midst of difficulty. I discovered that I am a relational person and building and nurturing a therapeutic relationship with clients is central to my approach.

My experience

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and work in an integrative way using person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. I have experience working with a range of issues including, grief & loss, low mood, feelings of stress or anxiety, panic attacks, depression, difficulty at work or in family life, trauma, low confidence and self-esteem.

I am trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)®, a body-centered, neuroscience-informed approach that helps individuals restore balance in mind, body, and spirit after trauma. This approach integrates the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)® which trains us to help ourselves and others using a skills-based, stabilization program to re-set the natural balance of the nervous system. I also have training in critical incident debriefing and bereavement.

I am a member of the BACP and ACC and adhere to their ethical frameworks, including working under professional supervision.

What to expect

The most important factor in therapy is that the counsellor and client are a good fit, so I prioritise building a therapeutic relationship that suits each individual client. I offer a safe, empathetic, confidential and non-judgemental space so you can be heard and supported to explore what is most important and help implement strategies for change.

I offer in person and online sessions. I am based in East Belfast, working out of counselling rooms on the Holywood Road. Sessions are 50-60 minutes and cost £55.
